Hydrothorax is an uncommon complication of CAPD, is possibly secondary to peritoneopleural communications. But the real mechanism is still unclear. Peritoneal scintigraphy is a useful diagnostic tool in the management of complication of CAPD. We present a case of right hydrothorax who was during CAPD using TcMAA peritoneoscintigraphy.

Unusual mediastinal lymph node uptake and peritoneopleural fistula demonstrated on Technetium-99m macro-aggregated human serum albumin (Tc-99m MAA) peritoneal scintigraphy in a patient with portal hypertension.

Peritoneal radionuclide scan is an established imaging modality for evaluating peritoneopleural communications. In this case report, unusual mediastinal lymph node radiotracer uptake is seen in a patient with portal hypertension on peritoneal scintigraphy. This was suspected to be due to marked lymphatic enlargement from longstanding portal hypertension since childhood, permitting passage of th...

Hydrothorax in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis: therapeutic implications of Tc-99m MAA peritoneal scintigraphy.

Key words: continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis confirmed a massive left-sided pleural effusion (Figure 1a). The echocardiogram revealed concentric (CAPD); end-stage renal disease (ESRD); hydro-thorax; Tc-99m macroaggregated human albumin left ventricular hypertrophy with adequate global performance , and no pericardial effusion. The abdominal (MAA) peritoneal scintigraphy sonogram showed ...

Pleuroperitoneal Leak: An Unusual Cause of Acute Shortness of Breath in a Peritoneal Dialysis Patient

Introduction. Pleuroperitoneal leak is an uncommon complication of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), with an estimated incidence of 1.6%. It should be suspected in these patients when they present with recurrent unilateral pleural effusions and/or acute shortness of breath following dialysate infusion. Case Presentation. We present the case of a 25-year-old female patient who ha...

Correlation between Ultrafiltration Coefficient and Effective Lymphatic Absorption Rate in Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis Patients: A Possible Paradigm Shift

Background: The relative contribution of transcapillary water movement and lymphatic reabsorption in peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a critical issue, particularly in patients with ultrafiltration failure (UFF). Based on routine results obtained from the PD Adequest 2.0 software, the present study aimed to re-evaluate the separate effects of transcapillary water movement and lymphatic reabsorption ...
